EDL Demo Parades Greek Neo-Nazi Symbols

One eagle-eyed Twitter user (@Mr_Mark_Brown) has noted that an English Defence League (EDL) demonstration in Edinburgh over the weekend paraded a Golden Dawn swastika. Once again, the far-Right influence with the EDL is clear.

Golden Dawn is a Greek Neo-Nazi party which gained alarmingly significant support during the last election. Its doctrine echoes Nazi principles by proposing that, “only men and women of Greek descent and consciousness should have full political rights.” Copies of “Mein Kampf,” as well as other works on Greek racial superiority, are openly displayed at party headquarters.

Party leader Nikos Michaloliakos has denied that ovens and gas chambers were used in Nazi concentration camps to exterminate Jews during the Holocaust.

  1. this might have escaped your notice that this symbol is in fact a traditional greek design that goes back thousands of years, it has as much to do with fascism as mickey mouse does

    • So what? The Nazi swastika has its origins in India. It still has quite a lot to do with fascism, as does the Golden Dawn swastika. The big clue is: they are the symbols of fascist groups.
