Education Aid for Palestinians

Education Aid for Palestinians

Education Aid for Palestinians (EAP) is a British charity, established in 1993, that claims “to help Palestinians through education and training.”[1] According to the NEFA Foundation, it has been a member of the Union of Good, a coalition of charities designated by the US Treasury Department as a terrorist entity “created by Hamas … in order to facilitate the transfer of funds to Hamas.”[2] EAP lists the Hamas-controlled Islamic University of Gaza as a partner institution on its website,[3] and is proscribed in Israel as “part of Hamas’s fundraising network.”[4] Its trustees are Munir Ashi, Zaher Birawi and Moin Shubib.[5]

Munir Ashi is Chairman of the Dar ul-Isra Mosque in Cardiff. In his sermons, he has said that “Israel very soon will disappear, inshallah [God willing].”[6] He is reportedly a member of the Muslim Association of Britain,[7] a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in the UK.[8]

Zaher Birawi is a fugitive Hamas activist who fled to Britain in the 1990s and now serves as the terrorist organisation’s West Bank representative, according to the Meir Amit Intelligence & Terrorism Information Center.[9] He is a senior member of Viva Palestina, and has been photographed seated next to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at a ceremony in the Gaza Strip. [10]

Moin Shubib is another fugitive Hamas activist, formerly in charge of the organisation’s Central Sector (Ramallah-Jerusalem).[11] In a 1994 interview with the FBI, he confessed to supporting Hamas both politically and financially.[12] The FBI had previously recorded him telling an audience in Philadelphia, “We don’t want children of our community, in Islamic and non-Islamic schools, one day surrendering to the issue of peace with Jews.”[13]
