Global Aid Trust Promotes Extremist Speakers (again…)
On Monday 5th May, the British charity, Global Aid Trust, will host a gender-segregated fundraiser for Syria in London. The event, organised by “Barrister” Rizwan Hussain, will include guest speakers Abu Salahudeen and Imran ibn Mansur (aka “Dawah Man”).
Stand for Peace has written about a Global Aid Trust fundraiser in the past, noting the presence of notorious hate preachers Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari and Suliman Gani, who have both expressed support for terrorism.
The 5th May event promises more of the same. The organiser, “Barrister” Rizwan Hussain, is a presenter of the Islam Channel, which has been censured by Ofcom for encouraging marital rape and domestic violence, and at one point even advertised a DVD box set of sermons by al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. Hussain also claims to have “actively campaigned to raise funds for … Interpal, Muslim Aid [and] Muslim Hands”, all of which have been accused of financing terrorist organisations. Interpal, for instance, is classified by the US Treasury Department as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist”.
Guest speakers Abu Salahudeen and Imran ibn Mansur are equally questionable characters. The former has stated that, “As long as the West continues to use military power [against the Muslims,] … we must stand up and defend ourselves … [and] maybe we have to go down a bloody route … In all capital crimes you execute the criminal. It’s not for me to tell you how to undertake it, or even to undertake it, but I am merely giving you the verdict”. The latter has expressed support for convicted terrorist Aafia Siddiqui and confessed terrorist Moazzam Begg.
