Global Aid Trust

Global Aid Trust

The Global Aid Trust is a British charity established in 2008, which is presently funding projects in Syria. In May 2014, the Global Aid Trust hosted a fundraising event for its aid convoys to Syria, featuring Jalal ibn Saeed, an American Islamist preacher who has lived in Britain since the 1990s. Saeed has claimed, “We selfishly live like the Jews, who only care about themselves.” Additionally, Saeed glorifies death and has expressed praise for the Taliban.

Saeed’s fellow speaker was Musa Adnan, a “volunteer coordinator” for the Convivencia Trust, an Islamist charity whose officials have voiced praise for Hitler and described Shia Muslims as “donkeys of Jews.”

Earlier that month, the Global Aid Trust organised a gender-segregated fundraiser at the East London Mosque, featuring guest speakers Abu Salahudeen, who has encouraged jihad against the West; and Imran ibn Mansur, who has also expressed support for convicted terrorist Aafia Siddiqui.

These events were not the first time the Global Aid Trust promoted extremist speakers. In February 2014, Global Aid Trust organised a “charity fundraising event for Syria” at the East London Mosque, with the Islamist preachers Muhammad ibn Adam Al-Kawthari and Suliman Gani. Al-Kawthari supports the killing of adulterers and encourages Muslims to travel and fight overseas. Gani, meanwhile, claims women are subservient to men, and is a vocal supporter of Aafia Siddiqui, a convicted terrorist described by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller as “an al-Qaeda operative and facilitator.”

Furthermore, Global Aid Trust has previously run events with Abdul Qayyum, who signed the Istanbul Declaration, which called for attacks on British troops and Jewish communities; and Shakeel Begg, who describes jihad as the “greatest of deeds” and has urged students to wage “jihad in Palestine”; as well as Murtaza Khan, who advocates the death penalty for homosexuals and describes non-Muslims as “filthy”.
