On the 5th February, the Free Palestine Society at Middlesex University is hosting an event titled ‘Save Gaza Week’.
The Society mentions the speakers are to be:
Lauren Booth (Broadcaster, Journalist and Activist)
John Rees (Political Activist, Broadcaster and Writer)
Asghar Bukhari (Activist and Muslim Civil Rights Campaigner)
All three of these speakers have a history of extremism.
In a post on her blog, Booth has written an entry titled, ‘Jewishness’, scare tactics, and a sense of humor. The post praises the tales of Jewish villainy espoused by Gilad Atzmon (whom anti-racism group Hope not Hate notes is an anti-Semite and a Holocaust Denier) and speaks about Jewish supremacism, in the context of a panel discussion she attended which included Atzmon, conspiracy theorist Alan Hart, and an extremist named Sameh Habeeb who has claimed Jews control the media.
Booth is actually a patron of The Palestine Telegraph, of which Habeeb is the editor. The newspaper is a hate site that has published a video from former KKK grand wizard David Duke and Holocaust denier Fredrick Toben.
Booth has also written on her blog: “Britain is witnessing the rise of a new wave of pro-Palestinian activists. They need an organisation that is fit for purpose. One that does not pander to the emotional whims of the Jewish, Zionist lobby.”
In response, the anti-Israel activist Tony Greenstein has labelled her comments as ”venomous” and said it was “based on a core racist commitment.” He wrote on his blog: “PSC needs to take decisive action to root out, once and for all, those who evince sympathy for racism – of whatever description. Gilad Atzmon is deeply antisemitic. He subscribes to every myth and libel that has ever been written about Jews, from the world Jewish conspiracy theory, to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion to the Holocaust itself. ”
We are actually very strong. 1.3 billion people cannot be simply wiped out. The Europeans killed 6 million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them.
They survived 2000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking. They invented and successfully promoted Socialism, Communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries and they, this tiny community, have become a world power.
Mahathir Mohamad has had a long history of making very public pronouncements of virulent anti-Semitic gospel, and was noted for having copies of “The International Jew” distributed to his party leadership. In 2003, he was internationally condemned after opening the meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), representing a billion Muslims worldwide, with a call to defeat the Jews, in which he said that Jews rule the world by proxy, and that they had invented socialism, communism, human rights and democracy as ploys by which to control the world.
And yet Booth does not just share platforms with Mohamad, she has openly praised his work.
John Rees is a leading member of the Stop the War Coalition, and ticks many of the same boxes as the worst hate preachers. He was, until recently, a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers Party, a tiny Trotskyite cult, which fantasises that it will one day seize power, at the vanguard of a proletarian revolution. He resigned from the SWP in disgrace, the scapegoat for its foolish alliance with supporters of the extremist Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami.
Rees has openly spoken of his support for Moqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army, a violent terror group responsible for the deaths of countless Iraqis. Even worse, Rees has supported terrorist attacks against British troops.
Asghar Bukhari is a founding member of MPACUK, an organisation which was banned from university campuses in 2004 for anti-Semitism and was described by the 2006 Report of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into anti-Semitism (pdf) in this way:
The use of ‘Zionist’ as a replacement for ‘Jewish’ is common on the MPACUK website. The CST submitted evidence that in one explicit case of this the Talmud, a Jewish religious text written many centuries ago, was described as a “Zionist holy book”. The website also posed the question: “Is this the most Powerful and Racist book in the world?!”
MPACUK has also articulated Jewish conspiracy theories through the language of Zionism describing it as an “octopus that now penetrates every western nation and pushes it to start world war three upon Muslims” and warning that “Any man who knows anything of Zionists, knows that they will not stop until the Muslims ‘followed by mankind’ are dead or enslaved”.
Bukhari is notorious for having offered to fundraise for the infamous Holocaust denier, David Irving, who faced a legal bill following the failure of his libel action against Professor Lipstadt and Penguin Books.
In 2008, Bukhari wrote this comment on Facebook:
Muslims who fight against the occupation of their lands are ‘Mujahadeen’ and are blessed by Allah. And any Muslim who fights against Israel and dies is a martyr and will be granted paradise. The concept of Jihad is a beautiful thing, and logical to those with a sincere heart. It tells the human being to stand up and fight against those who bring evil and oppression on this earth, and by standing up – roll back that oppression until the people are free from it. There is no greater oppressor on this earth then [sic] the Zionists, who murder little children for sport…Any public attack on Islam and the Ummah is not going to be tolerated by men like me. I have dealt with these Zionists before, a veneer of reason, below which lies a crooked mind plotting and planning to extend their hatred against us.
