Muslim Association of Britain promotes Extremist Preacher Fadel Soliman
The Muslim Association of Britain, described as “one of the UK’s most radical Islamist groups”, has organised an eight-week workshop with Fadel Soliman, an extremist Egyptian preacher, starting on September 20.
Fadel Soliman is a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Director of the Bridges Foundation. Soliman claims to have drawn inspiration from the early teachings of Anwar Al-Awlaki, the late Al Qaeda leader; and Yusuf Qaradawi, the Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader who, in 2009, thanked Hitler for having “managed to put Jews in their place . . . Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the (Muslim) believers.” In 2004, the International Union of Muslim Scholars, headed by Qaradawi and of which Soliman is a member, expressed support for the killing of Western “occupation troops” in Iraq.
In 2007, Soliman himself called for the killing of American soldiers in Iraq. He claims that the punishment for “fornication” is “100 lashes” and supports the amputation of thieves’ hands. Furthermore, he is an apologist for sex slavery.
The workshop is sponsored by Families Relief and the IQRA Centre, two British charities.
Counter-terrorism experts have identified Families Relief as a member of the Hamas-funding Union of Good, a designated terrorist entity under US law. Trustees of Families Relief include an official in the Islamic Society of Britain, another Muslim Brotherhood group; as well as a founder of the Tunisian Islamist Ennahda Party.
The IQRA Centre is part of the UK Islamic Mission (UKIM), a long-established Islamist group in Britain that is closely tied to Jamaat-e-Islami, the violent sub-continental cousin of the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2010, UKIM organised a series of fundraising events with Qazi Hussain Ahmed, a former president of Jamaat-e-Islami. Ahmed, a strong supporter of Bin Laden, claims that the Jews were responsible for the September 11 attacks. He also has said, “Now is the time that we should be prepared for Jihad. This Jihad will be against oppression … And the jihad in the way of Allah is not terrorism. I salute the girl who killed five American soldiers in a suicide attack in Iraq.”
The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) is the leading voice for the Muslim Brotherhood in Britain. It has a long history of promoting extremist thought. The Community Security Trust notes that in October 2000, the MAB’s newsletter, ‘New Dawn‘ printed an infamous 1950s hoax entitled, “The Jewish Threat on the American Society”, which claims to reveal a warning by Benjamin Franklin that Jews are vampires determined to destroy every society in which they live. In 2009, the MAB printed a blood libel piece claiming that Jews were kidnapping and drinking the blood of Algerian children.
Despite these views, the MAB is an inaugural member of the Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board, founded by the Government in 2006, and which received many thousands of pounds of Government monies.
