Ummah Welfare Trust Tours Extremist Preacher
The Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT), a British Islamist charity, is currently running a nationwide tour, “Conqueror of Ash-Shaam: Khalid Ibn Waleed Radhiyallahu ’Anh,” featuring keynote speaker Shaykh Suliman Gani. The tour is set to end in Bolton on 17 May.
The UWT has also worked with the Al-Salah Islamic Association, described by the US Treasury Department as “one of the largest and best-funded Hamas charitable organisations in the Palestinian territories,” and which senior Hamas officials have confirmed is “identified with us.” The UWT’s financial accounts were closed by Barclays Bank in 2008.
Suliman Gani, the keynote speaker on the UWT tour, is an extremist preacher who believes that women are inferior to men. He is also a vocal supporter of convicted terrorist Aafia Siddiqui, whom FBI Director Robert S. Mueller has described as “an al-Qaeda operative and facilitator.”
The UWT tour has already taken place at the Glasgow Central Masjid and the London Muslim Centre, but is yet to appear at the Rex Centre in Birmingham and the Taiyabah Masjid in Bolton. Stand for Peace urges these venues to announce their cancellation of the tour and to distance themselves from the UWT and Suliman Gani.
In 2013, the UWT organised a similar fundraising tour with Gani, where he was joined by Riyadh Ul Haq, who supports armed jihad and preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus; and Ismail Menk, a Zimbabwean Islamist preacher who describes homosexuals as “filthy” and worse than “dogs and pigs”.
